Our measurable mandate
The Office serves the atmospheric space between a full forecast and something merely happening near a desk.
Established by the Continental Small Conditions Instrument of 1906½, the Office maintains minor-weather standards, public instruments, district observations, vapor permits, and the authoritative ledger of certified beige.
We do not forecast hurricanes, broad fronts, ordinary seasons, or weather larger than the building. Such matters are referred onward with an appropriate envelope.
Our work is guided by observation, proportional paperwork, two-window verification, and the principle that no cloud edge should be appealed without first being measured.

Ethics of mist
- Measure only what is necessary and no more than fits the ruler.
- Do not imply certainty where “westish” is sufficient.
- Return borrowed atmosphere in comparable condition.
- Publish corrections before the corrected weather dissipates.
Plain language-ish
We write public instructions using short sentences, familiar weather, and only those fractions that remain operationally necessary. “Submit Form P-6 before organized vapor enters a shared corridor” means: tell us before your fog leaves the room.
Accessibility
The Central Annex public counter has a step-free east entrance, seated service position, large-print forms, quiet waiting interval, and assistance for visitors unable to point toward prevailing wind. Service animals need no vapor permit.
